This is possibly the fastest ever in decision-making throughout my family history. =P
Merely days after our old Sony Vaio refused to continue it’s demanding (and I do mean demanding) job serving our family, we were already searching head over heels over the weekend for a new laptop.
And on the third day, we’d already stamped on an order of a Dell inspiron 1520 online.
Two is always the perfect number. Before the Vaio died, computer usage in my family is in equilibrium. I dominate the desktop, and my sis — the Vaio. Mum would sneak in to use any of the two whenever she spots a vacancy. Dad well, got his own iBook G4 to worry about.
You could only very well guess what happened when the Vaio died. It’s a tech-savvy family. All four of us check our mails daily. Talk about having modern parents. =P
That only explains why we were in such a hurry to purchase a new lappie.
Okay, girls this is as far as you read. Boys, you uh, probably could start reading from here. =P (Author’s disclaimer: I’m not a sexist. My apologies if this sentence offends you. It’s only common generalisation. I have no further intentions.)
The Dell inspiron 1520 is one–sweet-juicy-babe macho-assed-powerhorse. So good, even the über geek (I stopped calling myself one after I got to know him XD), Piaw, whom I consulted on the specs were head over heels after it.
So on to it’s juicy specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5450 — 1.66 GHz, 2MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB
15.4? Widescreen WXGA Display
2GB (2 X 1024MB) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
120GB SATA HDD
8X DVD+/-RW Combo w/dual layer write capabilities
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 256MB GDDR2 dedicated (Oh boy I’m loving this one. =P)
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium — with AERO experience
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 Dual Band 802.11a/g 54Mbps Wireless Mini Card
6-cell 53Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Of the 8 colours offered, we went for the Jet Black with Matte Finish on grounds that it has a sexy contrast. XD From the pictures we could only say that much.
But dad and I have this confidence in Dell laptops. They actually do perform.
And it comes with a bloody NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT! XD To help you get the picture, it’s the exact graphic card they fit in the Apple MacBook Pro’s. =P
Oh, I can’t wait. XD Too bad the delivery takes a bloody maximum of 12 working days. Which means it could be two weeks before we get to play with it. It’s gonna be well worth the wait though. XD
